Mrs. E.Z. (Nancy) Hornberger, Jr., passed away on May 8, 2013 in Fort Smith. Nancy was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on January 4, 1922 to Nancy Cravens Eads and William Martin Eads, Sr. She married Evans Z. (Zack) Hornberger, Jr, M.D. on January 7, 1944. Nancy was educated in the Fort Smith Public School System and graduated from Colby Junior College in New London, New Hampshire. During World War II she worked for the American Red Cross. She was the first Executive Secretary of the Girl Scouts in the area. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as president of the Presbyterian Women of the Church. She was past president of the Junior League of Fort Smith, the Sebastian County Medical Auxiliary and the Roselie Tilles Foundation Board of Directors. She served on the Westark Junior College Board of Directors, the Fort Smith Girls Club Board of Directors, the Friends of the Library Board of Directors and the Fort Smith Symphony Board of Directors. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Masterson and husband, Conrad of Dallas/Cee Vee, Texas; her son, Robert E. Hornberger and wife, Pam of Fort Smith; one granddaughter, Amy Hardin and husband, Jon, of Fort Smith; a great grandson, Grant Hardin of Fort Smith; three grandsons; Conrad (Gayle) Masterson of Tucson, Arizona, Bill (Tia) Masterson, of Montrose, Colorado, and Patrick (Ann) Masterson of Washington, D.C. and great grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Madelynne, Hadley, Alden, and Naila Masterson; her brother, William M. Eads, Jr., of Fort Smith, one niece, four nephews and their families. Memorial service will be Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church. Services and committal of cremated remains in the church Columbarium are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the Memorial in the Church Parlor.
