Mary Marie Dedmon Nation

Mary Marie Dedmon Nation, 91, of Spiro, OK, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away peacefully Wednesday December 2, 2015. Marie was born January 26, 1924 in Liberty, OK to Ola and Jennie Brooks of Roland, OK.

Marie was a member of the Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter in Muldrow, OK. She worked first for Wards Furniture Manufacturing and then, as a secretary of their union until their closing of the plant. Then, she worked for Decent Control until her retirement in her 70’s.

Marie was preceded in death by her father, Ola Brooks; mother, Jennie Sutton Brooks; four sisters, Ada Redden, Mae Buffington, Majoria “Doy” Allen and Jane Coppler and two brothers, Bill Brooks and Edgar “Dunk” Brooks; a special niece and caregiver, Lisa Brock and her two husbands, Theron Dedmon, Sr. and Theil “Buster” Nation.

Survivors include her son, Theron Dedmon, Jr. and wife Sheila; two grandsons, Brian Dedmon and wife Connie and Bradley Dedmon and wife Danielle; two great grandchildren, Blake Dedmon and Garon Dedmon all of Spiro, OK; one sister, Glenna Hicks of Fort Smith, AR; one brother, Andrew Brooks of Roland, OK and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that she loved dearly.

She was a loving devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. With each tender memory of our hearts nothing can take away the beauty we have known, for love remains a part of us forever.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial to follow at Roland City Cemetery in Roland, OK.

Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral, 201 North 12th Street, Fort Smith, AR.

The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:30 PM-7:30 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
