Marian Audrey (Heinrichs) Lindquist passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 in Ft. Smith at the age of 90. Marian was born to Bernard “Ben” J. and Ida Katherine (Welker) Heinrichs Sept. 20, 1924 in Ft. Smith on North 18th street. She was a long-time member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and had been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church since the early 1970s. She attended St. Boniface grade school and graduated from St. Scholastica Academy and Ft. Smith Junior College. She began working as a court reporter for the Sebastian County Prosecutor’s Office where she excelled in shorthand and typing, among many other duties. In 1948 she took the position of Deputy Clerk, U.S. District Court where she worked for Judge Johnny Miller and later for Judge Paul X Williams. She retired in 1981 after 33 years. Marian said that she had been really lucky with her jobs; she worked for people she liked and who liked her. Marian loved visiting with family and friends and greatly enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, all kinds of games, sledding in the snow, sewing, cooking, fishing (but not cleaning them), walking in the country, warming herself by the fireplace at the family farmhouse, sharing Cheez-Its with her nieces and nephews, and rooting for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Marian married Dr. Karl Lindquist, a long-time Ft. Smith chiropractor, on June 12, 1971 and remained with him until his death in 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her oldest brother Bernard “Ben” Heinrichs, an infant brother Harold, an infant sister Ida Loretta, her step-son Dr. Karl James Lindquist, and her nephew Paul “Buddy” Heinrichs. She is survived by her brother Edward and his wife Louise Heinrichs, her step-son John and his wife Chablis Lindquist, all of Ft. Smith, and John’s son Joseph Lindquist, of Fayetteville, Ark., her nieces Ann Heinrichs of Chicago, Sue and her husband Michael Gray of Cabot, Ark., Jane Heinrichs of Seattle, Teresa Hodgins of Corning, Cal., Narda and her husband Bill Foletta of King City, Cal., Lillian and her husband Gene Camillon of Sun City West, Ariz., her nephews Mike Heinrichs of Houston, and Steve and his wife Dianne Heinrichs of Ft. Smith, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Pallbearers will be Joseph Lindquist, Steve Heinrichs, Hank Seubold, Morgan Seubold, Dwane Shepherd, and Tommy Caldarera, Jr. Visitation will be at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel from 4 to 6p.m. on Monday, December 1st. Rosary will begin at 6. Funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Church on Tuesday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
