Joyce "Joy" Renee Perez

Joyce “Joy” Perez, 62 of Van Buren, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. She was born on March 5, 1959 in Fort Smith to David and Norma Slack. She was a member of Refuge Ministries in Van Buren. She is preceded in death by her father.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday at Refuge Ministries, interment will be at Gill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

She is survived by three daughters, Jamie Garcia of Van Buren, and Judy Rios and Tamra Doling (Randy), both of Fort Smith; two sons, Prentiss Peters (fiancée Erica) of Fort Smith, and D.J. Peters (Jacquie) of Muldrow; her mother, Norma Finch of Van Buren; three brothers, Bill Slack (Connie) and Bruce Slack, both of Van Buren, and Jesse Finch (Chris) of Lavaca. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many loved family members and friends, she was a loving Mother and Nana.

Pallbearers will be Bill Slack, Bruce Slack, Jesse Finch, Chano Salas, Tony Leon, Kalijah Peters, Parker Peters and Bryson Robertson.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
