He had his own band, Mirl Bell & Young Country. He wrote two songs recorded by Merle Haggard. Mirl was a member of the Writer’s Guild in New York, and he was a member of the Welder’s Association. He worked as an outside Contractor for Trane, for twenty-two years. He was one of the entertainers for Old Timers Day in Van Buren. He loved Karaoke. His favorite all-time activity was being “Poppy” to, Allie, Audree, Aubree, and Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Jonathan.
He is survived by his loving companion, Judy; three sons, Ricky Mirl Bell and wife Michelle, (grandson Rowdy), Jack Eugene Bell and wife Karen, and Johnny Wayne Bell; his wonderful sisters, Connie Wallace and husband Walter, Frieda Reed and husband Weldon, Marilyn Haney, Dana Beeson, Donna Hewitt and husband Gene, and Norma Mitcham and husband Lonnie; one brother, Mitch Bell and wife Connie Marie; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and family Tonya and Joe Kaelin.

Service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Northeast Freeway Baptist Church, 1635 Runnebury Rd. Crosby, TX. Local arrangements under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Ricky Bell, Aubrey Rawls, Brian Rawls, Josh Mitcham, James Coogler, and Kenneth Cox.
