Ethel Jewel “Polly” Newman of Fort Smith joined her lord and savior on October 17, 2015. She was born March 22, 1935 in Vandervoort, Arkansas to James Allen and Altha Ford Atchley. Polly had fought a strong and valiant fight against cancer. Polly was a mom and worked at the noble profession of housewife. Polly was a long time Methodist and appreciated the support and visitation by members of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, James “Jim” Newman of Fort Smith and Roger B. Newman of Belleville, IL; and two daughters, Carla Kay-Lake of Lexington, KY and Linda Newman of Bettendorf, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James A. Atchley; and one sister, Mildred Blake.
Memorial service will be Friday, November 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church and her cremains will be placed in the church columbarium. Services and Cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
