Dora M. White, 84, known to many as Dodo, of Fort Smith, died March 23, 2015 in Fort Smith. She was born February 19, 1931 in Fort Smith to Cleve and Bessie Brock Gilbert. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Bill J. White for 62 years who preceded her in death. She was the retired owner of Dora’s Pie Shop. During her working years, this was by far the job that made her the most happy. Fond memories were her family delivering pies until late on Thanksgiving eve, because she didn’t know the word no. She was a member of Butterfield Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Shelly and husband Brian Gilker of Mountainburg; one son, Phil and wife Kim White of Fort Smith; one sister, Jane Sampson of Zephyrhills, FL; two brothers, Grover Gilbert of Apple Valley, CA and Mack Gilbert of Corona, CA; and three grandchildren Matthew and Lindsey White, and Kathryn Gilker, and 2 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Rippy, Elsie Golliher; brothers, twin brother Phillip, and Roy, Raymond, Bill, John and Rondel.
There will be a private service for family under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers are Matthew White, Derek and Peter Lewis, Marty White, Joseph Gilker, Carl Tillery Jr and Rick Anders.
