David Crockett Moulton, of Fort Smith, died January 29, 2014, in Fort Smith. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Dr. Everett C. and Bettye Tripplehorn Moulton. Jr. He attended Southside High School and the American School in Switzerland. Beginning in 1957, he spent eight wonderful summers at Cheley Camps in Estes Park, Colorado. David still holds the record for forty-two ascents of the peaks of the Rocky Mountain National Park in one four week term at Cheley Camps. He was a self-employed Draftsman, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a contributor to the Fort Smith Museum of History, the Clayton House and the Junior League of Fort Smith. David loved his family, his companion, his daughter, and very especially, his grandson. He adored being outdoors. He loved hiking and skiing.
David is survived by one daughter, Margot Moulton of Fayetteville; his companion and friend of thirty years, Debbie Moulton of Fort Smith; one grandson, Alexander Moulton of Fayetteville; one sister, Dr. Bettye Lynn Moulton of Maui, Hawaii; two brothers, his twin Dr. Everett C. “Kit” Moulton III of Fort Smith, and Dr. James R. Moulton of Denver, Colorado; nieces Sarah Gancher of New York, New York, Elizabeth Gancher of Oakland, California, Dr. Allyson W. Moulton of Lexington, South Carolina, Juliette C. Moulton of Little Rock, and Mackenzie E. Moulton of Fort Smith. David was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Everett and Bettye Moulton.
Private Memorial service will be held at a later date. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral home.
