Carl D. Riggins, 80, of Fort Smith, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 3, 2022. Carl was born on April 2, 1942 to the late Ralph D. Riggins and Zadie (McKay) Riggins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alice Joy; two brothers; Ralph Eugene and Chester Roy.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 50 years, Teena (Jackson) Riggins; three daughters, Sheila Colburn of Edmond, OK, Shelley (Gary) Briley of Ozark, and Dr. Sheri (Patrick) Boyd of Orlando, Florida; one son, Brent (Linda) of Alma. Carl is also survived by seven grandchildren, Alyson, Denton (Crystal), Kyle (Jayllyn), Carly Jo, Jordan, Sarah, and Olivia; eight great grandchildren: Ryder, Beckett, Willow, Lela, Remington, Brazen, Aubrey and Cooper.
Carl spent his first twenty years of his career in both radio and TV in the Fort Smith market, serving at KFDF, KWHN, KTCS, KMAG, KFSA and KPOM TV. The last 35 years he spent serving as Media Director at First Baptist Church of Fort Smith. He was the executive director of ACTS-TV, vice president of the Fort Smith Air Museum and founder and creator of the "On The Air" broadcast exhibit at the Fort Smith Museum of History.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 7 from 5-7pm at Edwards Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday., September 8 at 2pm at Fort Smith First Baptist Church with burial at Roselawn Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Wayne Haver, David Hogan, Charles Fitting, Larry Osborn, Jim Roughley, Ralph Freeman, Jr. Denton Orr, and Kyle Colburn. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Wednesday Morning Men's Prayer Group.
