Billy Franklin Taylor ‘Bill’, 84, of Fort Smith, Arkansas went on to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 2, 2018. Bill was born on September 20, 1933 in Greenville, South Carolina to Fred Dennis Taylor and Essie Traynham Taylor.
He leaves his beloved wife of 30 years, Margaret ‘Jean’ Davis Taylor, two daughters Debra Taylor Zager and her husband, Joseph Zager of Belle Haven, Virginia and Susan Taylor Fernandez and her husband, Tony Fernandez of Prosperity, South Carolina; four grandchildren: Hunter Bishop of Portland, Oregon, Benjamin Zager of Charleston, South Carolina, Alexander Zager of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Judeth Lauren Zager of Belle Haven, Virginia and one great-grandchild: Wesley V. Bishop of Portland, Oregon; three brothers: Wayne Dennis Taylor (predeceased), Fred E. ‘Ed’ Taylor of Greenville, South Carolina, and Warren H. Taylor of Wilson, North Carolina; adored sister-in-law, Anne Crockett, husband, Jim Crockett and brother-in-law, Jim Davis and wife, Aline Davis.
Bill graduated with honors from Ellen Woodside High School and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Economics & Business Administration from Furman University of Greenville, South Carolina, class of 1955.
After serving as an officer in the US Army, Bill began a long career in the trucking industry as vice president of operations at Pilot Freight Carriers and Cooper Motor Lines.
Private interment will take place at Fort Smith National Cemetery at a later date.
