Billie’s greatest passion in life was her love of the the Lord Jesus Christ and her desire to serve and please him daily. One of the ways she served her lord was through service and giving to others. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and her way of giving to everyone around her.
Billie had many talents in her life that she used to serve others. She was an incredible seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She loved to cook and will always be remembered for her delicious cobblers. She also loved music and served Bluff Avenue Baptist Church and many other churches during her lifetime with that gift. She sang in the choir, played the keyboard in the praise band, and was the faithful organist at Bluff Avenue until she had a stroke in the fall of 2008. She also taught Sunday School most of her life because she always felt she learned more by teaching others.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Allen Newman, her parents; Annie and W.R. Fox, two brothers; Tom and Jackie Fox, and a son; Billie Paul Newman.
She is survived by and her legacy lives on through three brothers; Jim, Fred, and Paul Fox; two sisters, Jeanne Heard and Helen Beatty; five children, Ginger Thomas of Fort Smith, Marchelle Kennedy and husband Rob, of Waco, TX, Samantha Albin and husband Jim of Missouri, Mark Newman and wife Alice, of Mulberry, AR, and Ricky Newman of Pine Bluff, AR.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her life is a true example of Proverbs 31 and her children and grandchildren have risen up to call her blessed.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Bluff Avenue Baptist Church, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
