Svend Aage Gjedsig Larsen

May 13, 1923 ~ June 8, 2018

Svend slipped away peacefully, just following his 95th birthday celebration with family and friends. He was predeceased by Helen, his wife of 50 years in 2009. Also predeceased by his parents, Ingrid and Hans Larsen, brother, Borge; and sisters, Maren Christine, Ebba, and Gitte.

Keeping his memory alive in Denmark, are his sisters, Aase, Grethe, and Rita; and brothers, Soren, and Morten; and their families. At his second home in Canada, he leaves his son, Paul (Maxine), daughter, Ingrid (Jorgen), and son, John (Melanie). He was a wonderful Farfar to Shaun, Michael, Colleen (Gordon), Kevin (Meagon), Joseph, Jim, and Julie; and special Morfar to Erik; good neighbour to his Fort Saskatchewan and Josephburg friends, cheerful colleague to his Sheritt associates, and a true friend to his many Danish compatriots, affectionately known as the “other DP’s”.

The family wishes to thank all of Svend’s caring and compassionate companions over the years from Details Plus, Homecare by Angels, as well as the staff at Summerwood and Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 13 Brower Drive, Sherwood Park. Online condolences may be sent through www.riverviewfuneral.com.
