I only just met Ed this fall when joining the staff at the Youth Attendance Center.  Our paths had crossed occasionally when i would visit the center in the past, but we had little opportunity for conversation.  In the past six months I learned he had a great sense of humour, was very proud of his family, and looked forward to to coming to work each day.  
We shared stories of our respective travels, especially those of Mexico.   I'm saddened to know we will not have time now, to continue those conversations.  My sympathies to the family.

Sincere condolences during this sad time. I had the pleasure of working with Ed for years and playing fastball with him. His love of sports was always surpassed by his deep love of family.  He positively impacted so many throughout his lifetime. His legacy lives on through his family, friends, former teammates and co-workers.

Oh Donna a part of your heart now will be watching over you from heaven.  Ed simply adored you, so many wives could hope for such an amazing husband.  My eyes are full of tears as I write this and hope that God will heal your heart and make you strong. Love to you and the rest of the family.  Hugs Rhea

I worked next door to Ed at the Sheriff's dept. for the last 13 years and he was a good friend and will sorely be missed.

Ed was the most down to earth and honest man I ever met. I had the pleasure of working and playing sports with Ed in my younger years. I will always have fond memories of him. 

As your great granddaughter Madelyn’s 3rd birthday is approaching I have been going down memory lane.. and one of my favourite memories of you & her is you meeting her at the hospital. You were so in love. So proud of me & your new girl. You and grandma came back two more times during my 3 day stay. I’m so thankful Madelyn got to spend so much time with the most incredible great grandpapa. We love you. & miss you dearly. 

There are so many memories but I put to of them here.

Mr. Parker was park of the family where ever he was, hockey, lacrosse,  Fort Sask. Jail, Edmonton Adult Centre, Edmonton Youth Attendance Centre too many place to add them all

Mr Parker was the muscle on the block growing up. He had to be with all the teenage boys on that block. When you got out of line he would put you down with one finger. Literally. He was the master of pressure points and how to use them. My fondest memories of Ed was his passion for Stampede Wrestling on Saturdays. Coming out to every Young Guns Game ( shaking his head at all the brawls he has to witness). All the Grizzley Guzzler games and even subbing in some times. Also no matter what the temp was outside he would walk Toby or Muffy with no shirt and just his Josephburg Flyers jacket on. Also alot of times having to pick up myself / Craig as we may have indulged in too many beers in Edmonton. He was a great man and will be greatly missed. Thanks for being part of my formattable years, You were a great influence on me. RIP Fast Eddy

I am saddened to hear of Ed's passing.  As it happens I grew up on the same block on 124 St. as Ed and his siblings.  I remember him as a pretty big, older guy, because I was a smaller guy,  the age of his younger sister, Sylvia.  Many years later I found myself working alongside Ed at the Edmonton Youth Attendance Centre (EYAC).  I reminded him that we had met about 50 years earlier, and we both got a kick out of that.  We worked together for several years, had lots of group meals, stories, laughs, and good times.  Ed will be missed.  I send condolences to Donna and all of his family and friends.

Big Playoff win tonight Dad, I know you were watching and cheering me on. I also enjoyed a cold beer after the game with you. I know you prefer to drink yours in a baby bottle 🍼 like you did when you and mom hosted the halloween 🎃 party at the house and you dressed up as a baby. You didn’t fair out very well,  drinking  all night in that bottle. Lol. So many memories. Love you 😘 ❤️💕

Dad, as I dress in my first game since you passed I was looking through my phone and found this picture. You were an amazing coach and most of all father. You taught me so much and I have lots of great memories to get me through this tough time. I know you will be watching over me tonight, as I play.  This one is for you tonight. RIP DAD.

Mr. Parker, I dont even know how to put into words how much you have influenced me. I worked with you for 5 years at EYAC and I will always remember sitting down with you before or after shift, just conversing about life, your trips to mexico, your amazing family, who you always talked so highly of all the time. I always loved hearing your stories about working in corrections. Your guidance and wealth of knowledge have gotten me to where I am today. A career and a man I look to as a role model.  I was 22 years old when I started my first shift at EYAC and I had no idea what I was doing. So you took the initiative of showing me the ropes, making me feel comfortable and confident. I will always remember you saying "ALEX! how are ya young fella" everytime I saw you. Or how much I bugged you for years to get Donna to make me one of those amazing Christmas cards. You always were  checking in on my family and how everyone was, especially my little guy. I will always remember you Mr. Parker, my friend, until we meet again. From Cassie, Mateo and myself to Donna and the whole Parker family, we are thinking about all of you and our condolences to you all.

I was so fortunate to work alongside Mr. Parker and won the partner lotto when we finally got to be official partners at EYAC.  I enjoyed every single story Ed would share about his Family, his legendary corrections stories, but most of all his vacation adventures.  Many memories to hold near and dear.  I admire his incredible dedication and commitment to Donna and all of his kids and grandkids.  Ed always made sure to ask about my family and always had time for me.  When I left EYAC for another adventure, we kept in touch.  I will miss the calls to check in, and offer advice and guidance.   He will always be a mentor to me, and I will forever keep him in my heart as a good friend, and partner.

Mr. Parker was icon in his own right. He was a LEGEND in the Correctional world and just an all-around amazing human being. He was my mentor, helping guide and mold my career as a Correctional Officer. But more so, he was my friend. The love and respect I have for him knows no bounds. 

In his words, I was not allowed to get married until I had HIS approval. He was front row center at our wedding. ❤️

Mr Parker Sir, thank you for treating me like a daughter. You have left a huge hole in my heart and you will be deeply missed. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, your time, and your soul with us. The world is a better place because of you. Rest in paradise my friend ❤️

I knew Ed for many years both professionally and personally.  I throughly enjoyed our chats on my midnight shift when he was on surveillance.  We quickly agreed on what action to take, then he would update me on his family; he was so proud of them!
My thoughts are with Donna and the Parker family.  Never was there a nicer man!  I was lucky to know him.  God Bless!


I will miss being his partner at EYAC, the morning coffee/breakfast, his calls to help with computerproblems. He was always joking that he did all the work. He was so proud off his family, joking that Dawna took over a room for crafts. He had so many interesting,  funny stories during his time in Corrections.  I never called him Ed it was always Mr. Parker out of the respect he earned. He was a very caring man, he called me every few days just to check to see how I was doing, he even called several times while he was in the hospital.  I considered Mr. Parker a co-worker and mostly a friend.

Without a doubt he will be missed by too many people he touch with his larger then life personality to count.

My condolences to Dawna and the family.

I have known Ed for 37 years and worked with him for about 30 years. Ed was a mentor to me when I started in corrections and he had a wealth of knowledge about the job. He was a man who stood with his troops in the good and bad times, thus earning immense respect from his co-workers. There are many fond memories and stories recalled from working with Ed, from the old Fort to ERC to EYAC. Our deepest condolences to Donna and ALL family members.

Having known Ed was a was a "once in a lifetime memory",.having worked alongside Ed for number of years was a opportunity for  those of us to  appreciate his wealth of knowledge and experience.
Ed will be missed by all, but never forgotten. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Ed's immediate and extended family.

My fondest memory of Ed was the first time I met him! His son, who may have had a few drinks,  wanted to drive to Jasper to rescue his “new girlfriend” and her friend from a slowpitch tournament that had gone sideways at midnight…so what does Ed do? Ed, without hesitation, agrees to drive to Jasper to pick up this girl (whom he’s never met!) at MIDNIGHT not because he wanted to but because he knew it was important to his son❤️
To the family: always hold those great memories close to your heart and speak of them often..gone but not forgotten! 

Ed was always the first person to volunteer when the Rebels needed anything. He loved watching the game while he kept a firm hand on beer garden activities. Won his share of 50-50s but it was just for the bragging rights. The money was always donated back. They don't make'm like Ed anymore. He will be greatly missed. 

You will forever be missed grandpa. I will miss your phone calls (almost daily) just to call and see what I was doing/how I was doing. I will miss me teasing you to get back to “work”. I will miss how grumpy you would get when you got hungry at dinners. Haha!! Love you forever grandpa! Xo

Jack, I and our family are deeply saddened at your loss. Our condolences to Donna and family.  We spent a lot of time together in arena’s around Alberta and always enjoyed our time together. Jack worked with Ed in Corrections and it was he who got me started.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Ed.  I worked with him for lots of years from the Adult Attendance to the Youth Attendance Centre. I will always remember his stories, having coffee with him in the mornings when he was on his day shift, "trying to boss me" in his own joking manner.  He always talking about his wife, his kids, and grandchildren.  He was so proud of them all. He will be forever missed.  He is a true LEGACY.  Love you
