September 17th 1926 – October 7th 2022
It is with profound sadness that the family of Joyce Walton announce her peaceful passing on October 7th 2022 at the age of 96. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Brett (Bonnie), Valerie, and Darryl (Kathy), her 9 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years George Walton, her brothers James, Ralph, her sister Shirley, and her parents Jim and Ethel Hoy. Joy was born and raised in Brandon Manitoba. She worked various jobs in Brandon and the Vancouver area during WWII before discovering her passion for photography which she continued to enjoy her whole life. While living in Brandon in 1957 she reluctantly went on a blind date with a soldier from Shilo and ended up falling in love. Joy and George married in 1958 and spent the next 63 years together before his passing in February of this year. They were stationed in several locations across Canada and abroad before settling down in George’s home town of Fort Saskatchewan where they would raise their three children and spend their retirement golfing and visiting with friends and family. A funeral and interment will be held at First Memorial Riverview Chapel on Friday October 28th at 1:30 PM. Coffee and conversation will follow the internment at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations can be made to the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank
