Rob was born on April 1, 1962 in Regina, SK to Lois and Bob Hameluck. He grew up in the Douglas Park area and attended St. Andrew Elementary School and Miller High School. He worked 33 years at SGI. It was there that he met his wife Cory and was married for 35 years.
Rob will be deeply missed by his wife Cory (Coralee), son Nicholas and his boys Harlem and Mylo, daughter Alexandria (fiancé Haylen), sisters Julie and Bonnie, and father Bob (Merle), as well as numerous extended family. His dear mother Lois pre-deceased him in 1993.
Rob loved his sports, in particular the Chicago Bears, Georgia Bulldogs, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Blue Jays, and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was a good cook and loved wildlife, nature, golfing, camping, boating, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed learning about history, especially wartime stories. He had a remarkable memory where he could recite word-for-word a line from the Flintstones, Seinfeld, or a movie; or pull out some “useless fact” stored in that brain of his, but yet could forget to get milk at the grocery store.
Rob also loved attending Nick’s football/soccer games and Alex’s dance recitals. He was so proud of them and the beautiful adults they became. He loved his grandsons dearly, too.
After retiring from SGI, Rob and Cory started traveling. Cory always made sure Rob drove a different route to and from Arizona, where they had a place in Palm Creek RV & Golf Resort, Casa Grande, AZ. They saw and experienced many National Parks and breathtaking landscapes. Rob’s favourite trip, however, was to the Riviera Maya in Mexico, even though he was scammed in purchasing fake cigars. He was determined to educate himself and became quite the connoisseur in cigars. He thoroughly enjoyed relaxing with a shot of Macallans scotch in one hand and a cigar in the other.
Rob and Cory built a beautiful log house out at their cottage property (B-Say-Tah at Echo Lake). They moved there permanently in fall of 2016.
Rob did not want a funeral, but rather “have a party at the lake” celebrating his life. The family will advise once a date has been determined.
Thank you to the amazing staff at All Nations Healing Hospital in Fort Qu’Appelle and Unit 3B in the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. The family appreciates all the care and compassion that was given.
