He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Akapew, maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kinequon, four brothers: Cameron Akapew, Jarryd Starr, Michael Poitras, Joshua Starr and one sister Sydelle Akapew. Kelo is survived by his parents, Kenneth Akapew and Margaret Kinequon, his brothers: Trevor, Darren (Kathy) Kinequon, Cory (Roach) and Delbert Bellegarde, his adoptive parents Willard and Doris Starr, his adoptive brothers: Brian (Dawn), Clayton, Allan (Sonya), Warren, Murray (Pearl) and adoptive sister Eunice Starr, his special nieces: Alana, Tara, Kelsey, Jazlyn Starr and Jenna Tuckanow; special grand daughter Laila Starr and special nephew Ty Stevenson.
The wake will be held in the Okanese Learning Centre, Okanese First Nation on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. with the funeral on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Okanese Learning Centre with Band Elders presiding. Interment in the Starr Family Cemetery.
