Jarryd was called home to be with the Creator on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the age of 19 years of the Star Blanket First Nation. Jarryd was predeceased by his adopted brother Cameron (George) Akapew, Mushum Victor and Kokum Mary Starr, Mushum Irvin Starblanket, Kokum Caroline Stonechild, Mushum Robin Pelletier, Kokum Patricia Pelletier and many others. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his dad and mom, Allan and Sonya Starr, Star Blanket First Nation his sister, Alana (Tony Cappo) Starr and their son Cassius, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK.,one brother, Nathan Starr, Star Blanket First Nation, paternal grandparents, Willard (Doris) Starr, Maternal grandparents, George (Noella) McKay and one great grandmother, Elizabeth McKay , adopted brother, Joshua Starr, adopted sister, Chantelle McKay, and other adopted brothers and sisters: Cade Tuckanow-Starr, Collin (Mouse) Akapew, Cody Starr, Michael (Mickey) Poitras and Faron (Sonny Boy) Akapew Jr., special uncles and aunts: Brian Starr (Dawn Tuckanow) and Cornell (Sandra) Bellegarde and many other numerous aunts uncles and cousins and friends. Jarryd often referred to as Jare-Bear was energetic and lived life to the fullest. He will be missed deeply but know he will live on in our hearts and memories forever. A traditional wake will be held in the Okanese Learning Centre, Okanese First Nation on Monday, December 17, 2012 commencing at 4:00 p.m with funeral service on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Elders officiating.
