Loretta was born and raised in Terrell, Arkansas and lived in Michigan during her teen years, before returning home to Arkansas. After getting married in 1945, she returned to Michigan in 1948 where she resided until 1985. In 1985 she moved to Fort Pierce, before settling back in North Little Rock, Arkansas two years later, where Loretta lived until finally moving back to Fort Pierce in March of 2015. Loretta was a homemaker. She also worked in food services, janitorial services, and in administration for Mary’s City of David in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was an avid gardener. Loretta was affiliated with Church of God for many years and most recently attended Treasure Coast Assembly of God in Vero Beach, Florida. She enjoyed Southern Gospel Music and Southern Country Fried Cooking. In her spare time, Loretta was known to be seen shopping at Thrift Stores.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Burns; nieces, Alma Terry, Betty Dilts, Melvina Burns, and Shirley Lawrence; and was the last of 11 siblings.
Survivors include her son, John Burns (Betty); daughter, Nancy Carter (Ben); grandchildren, Jennifer carter, Jaymie Chaires, Lisa Overholser, David Burns, John Burns, and Jennifer Gibson; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and niece, Linda Sternaman (John).
Services will be held at a later date in Arkansas.
