John W. Brown of Vero Beach, FL and Wildwood, NJ, beloved husband of Theresa M. Brown, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at the age of 82. John grew up in Greenbrook, NJ and as a young boy worked with his father in the floral business where he learned entrepreneurial skills which he would continue to use throughout his life.
John was a man who could do anything he set his mind to. He was a successful builder, who in 1955 married his sweetheart Theresa M. Makowski. Following their marriage, John and Theresa moved into one of the homes John had built in Piscataway, NJ. John was also employed by the Art Color Printing Company in Dunellen, NJ and served in the NJ National Guard for 10 years.
In the 1960’s John and his wife Theresa entered into the motel business and purchased the Ocean Breeze Motel in Wildwood, NJ which they owned and operated for 35 years before retiring to Vero Beach, FL. As a business owner John took pride in the Ocean Breeze Motel and he and his wife Theresa made many lifelong friends. Both John and Theresa enjoyed a successful repeat clientele for many years, with future generations of original guests returning to vacation years later with their own families. Although John was busy with projects around the motel, he always found time to share a laugh and a story with his family, many friends and guests. John enjoyed boating, spending time with his family and friends and repairing anything he could get his hands on.
John will be remembered by many for his kind heart, wonderful stories, old fashioned work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.
