Edward Reid Homan

MAY 28, 1946 – AUGUST 18, 2021

Edward Reid HOMAN, age 75, of Fort Pierce, Florida passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Ed was born May 28, 1946 to Harold Taft Homan and Lois Grant Homan who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his wife Karen Homan. Edward is survived by two siblings, William LeRoy Homan (Gloria) and Anne Homan Bryant (Danny), daughters Michele Homan Keeling (Dwayne) and Jill Homan Brown, stepsons Scott Kendall (Lynn) and Jeff Kendall (Laura), grandchildren Jessica Doerr (Dylan), Erik Keeling (Justine), Hailey Brown, Hannah Brown, Logan Kendall and two great granddaughters Amelia Mae Keeling and Raylin Renee Doerr that he adored. Also surviving are nieces Natalie Homan Nikkel and Dorie Homan, nephews Matthew Bryant (Nichole) , Micheal Bryant (Mandi), Mitchell Bryant (April), Andrew Homan and Scott Klucinec (Katie).

Ed was an outstanding high school athlete, a 4 year letterman in 3 sports and is a member of the Shelbina High School Sports Hall of Fame. He graduated from Shelbina High in 1964. Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1964 and served two tours in Vietnam. Ed worked as an Air Wing plane captain on a RA5C Vigilante and was on the flight deck during the 1967 historic USS Forrestal fire. Ed married Lin Roller (Menard) in May 1967 and they had 2 amazing daughters Michele and Jill. After an honorable discharge in 1970, Ed worked for Piper Aircraft and Firestone before starting his career with Bellsouth. He earned his AA degree from Indian River Community College in 1977 and worked as a Bellsouth engineer until he retired in November 1991.

Ed married Karen Kendall in September 1992 and when they both retired they traveled the United States full-time in a RV and caravanned to Alaska. They finally settled in Yantis, Texas where they enjoyed many hobbies. Ed moved back to Ft. Pierce, Florida in late 2018, where he enjoyed time with family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends for Edward will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Aycock Funeral Home, 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. A celebration of life will occur Friday, September 10, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. A committal service will occur Friday, September 10, 2021 from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 North Us Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946. A reception will occur Friday, September 10, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 6026 North US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946
