I met Ron when he was with the FBI we clicked instantly. I lost his contact info and googled today to try to contact him. What a shock to learn of his passing. He had planned to visit Pat and I this summer as he dad in the past. He was a great friend and   always have very fond memory’s of our friendship.

I worked with Ron in Homeland Security in 2007. He was an inspiration to me in my long career in government.

Ron and and I worked together at the FBI Academy.  He was a great guy I considered a friend.  The world is a lesser place without him.
I suspect he is up there shooting nothing but X's.

Uncle Ron:  

..... We went to Copper Mountain one time and some other skier was” ribbing" him a good one because he wore his Dallas Cowboys jacket that day and the guy obviously disliked Texans for whatever reason.  But Uncle Ron with his cool demeanor explained that it was just a jacket and he was supporting the team he like to root for, not where he was from.  He may have said a few other tactical words to the guy, but never the less, Ron walked away from the incident unharmed and didn’t let in interfere with the beautiful day of skiing we had.

While I don't know Ron personally, I heard about him through my husband, Jeff Stover, who served with him in the Secret Service. Circumstances prevented me from accompanying my husband to the funeral, but I did want to extend my personal condolences to the Crossman family. May Ron rest in eternal peace and may you find comfort in the memories that will live forever in your hearts.

part 2 ---brother in law
STORY2---AN EXCELLENT GAME.  When we were living in Nampa, Idaho Ron came for a visit.  I think he was on his way to a marksmanship meet in which he was one of the favorites to win.  He had a few days so we decided to play golf.  Of course he did not have the correct clothing, his own clubs, very ill prepared.  So being the philanthropic person I am, I said he could use my old set clubs (since I had just recently bought a new set).  

So we are ready to tee off me in shorts, polo shirt, golf spikes and Ron wearing a white shirt, tie (which he discarded after the second hole, nice slacks, and his wingtip dress shoes.  

And from the first hole on he had a terrific day of golf.  I am pretty sure he shot par!  I was impressed so I offer to sell those clubs (which I never shot part with) for $1,000.  He declined but I kept putting them on the market each year and increased the price (according to the CPI). 

 He never waivered in refusing to purchase those clubs even as others in the family used them.  One other positive point Ron never helped me with how to hit a ball out of the sand trap.

Jim:  two stories I will share---both involve golf. 

HELPING YOUR SON GET BETTER:  You see others may have mentioned the Michigan vacation and I think this also where the first incident played out.  We were playing golf---Ron, Lance, Chris Hall, and me.  None of us were particularly good at the time (except Ron).  On a particularly difficult hole Lance put his first shot in a sand trap.  His second shot (out of the trap  went a few yards at which time the father of Lance (RON) put on his “helper hat” and suggested that the next time he was in the trap he might try a particular approach.  I am sure he said it in a fatherly tone wanting his son to succeed.  

In the world today there is a communication break down---as soon as one person talks  misunderstanding begins.  Lance probably heard it much differently than Ron expected (or maybe not).  

A few holes later Ron hit into a sand trap and he also hit a bad shot out of the trap.  At which point Lance put on his helper hat and repeated the same advice Ron mentioned several holes before.  Fortunately we finished the round, all of alive, not lost clubs, and better golfers for the experience.

Michigan vacation was awesome!  We jet skied rode pontoon boat.  Ron and Janet tried to jet ski and fell into the lake.  Got to hang w Lance and his friend!  Tyler liked trying on Lance’s huge shoes
Ron and Janet came for Christmas when the kids were young!  Tyler loves to play the video of Ron walking in from ski day w Jeff & Todd and he said,”I survived!”
When we went to Grandma Louise’s funeral Ron insisted to pick us 3 kids up from airport.  Always making us laugh even in hard circumstances.
We were leaving grandmas apartment for the last time and he let us pick some memories from her house. My mom started to cry and he hugged her like a big brother to comfort her.

I had Uncle Ron to speak to my team on commitment to excellence and teamwork and our athletes were glued to every word. He was an exceptional motivational speaker, and I am so appreciative of Uncle Ron’s support of my playing and coaching career.  I can’t imagine a more caring person that would do ANYTHING for his family at a moment’s notice. 

I am also thankful my family got to know Uncle Ron over the years.  My husband and brother Jeff decided Uncle Ron was so fearless that he can take on anything, including a Black Diamond at Bridger Ski Resort. The following day might have been the most tired I have ever seen him. 

We all know Uncle Ron was never officially retired as he learned new crafts including painting. One of his beautiful pastels is on our wall of our dog Cole for our daughter Brooklyn’s Christmas present. Our son Justin had so much admiration for Uncle Ron that he chose Uncle Ron for his eight grade social studies project on someone who has served our country. 


Tricia continues: Uncle Ron was the younger brother of my mom but certainly cared for her like an older brother throughout her own struggles with illness. This past Christmas he worked so hard to surprise her with a visit to Bozeman, but unfortunately the flight got canceled and he had to return to home. 

In hearing of Uncle Ron’s passing my first response was we didn’t get that moment, yet we had hundreds of beautiful moments with the most caring, giving, and coolest uncle ever.  Uncle Ron has loved us with all of who he was and now it’s time for him to be loved with all of who Jesus is.

We are heartbroken to hear of my Uncle's passing. He was such a funny, happy man who always made you feel good. He always mentioned how proud he was of his family. We have some great memories playing shuffle board & being out on the boat in Florida. I will miss him so much! May he rest peacefully with my Aunt & my Dad; all who left us far too soon.

I met your Dad back in 1977 in Laurel Maryland and spent the next16 years laughing, partying and playing golf.  We were also together as my beloved Buffalo Bills lost 4 straight super bowls  two  
of them to Ron's Dallas Cowboys.
He had one of the wildest laughs I have ever heard.  I was fortunate to have seen him one last time earlier this year when he was up here visiting. He and Janet were such a happy couple. I will miss them both as will my wife.  Dennis  and Eileen McArdle.

Ron, You were a good golfer, a good shooter, a good Supervisor and a GREAT friend.  I called you the morning you passed to arrange a T time when we would hook up in South Carolina.  I guess you were on your way to be with Janet.  You will be missed.  RIP my friend.

I'm so sad to hear of Ron's passing. I served with Ron (Sgt. Crossman) during my time with the USSS/UD.I will always remember him for his kindness and patience with us new officers. Rest in peace Ron and may God keep you in his loving arms.
