Phillip A Engle (Phil), 75, of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Phil was born in LaCarne, OH on October 7, 1945 to Charles “Bob” & Julia Engle (Montgomery). He raised his 4 children in Indianapolis and Brownsburg, IN. In 2015, he moved to Fort Myers, FL where he retired with his wife. To keep busy he fished, played golf and worked part time at the Estero Country Club
Phil grew up in Speedway Indiana and was graduate of Speedway High School and Indiana State University. He had his own small business as a manufacturer’s rep for nearly all of his career. His knack for forging lifelong friendships translated into a very success career in sales and pretty much anything he put his mind to.
Phil never knew a stranger, and was always the life of the party. Whether he was dancing, singing, telling a joke, or simply engaging in a conversation, one knew Phil was living in that moment. He was passionate about sports and racing, having attended over 50 Indianapolis 500s
Phil is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rosanne Richey Engle, his sister, Patty Engle, of Richmond, Virginia, his daughters Karianne (Joe) Hayes of Ft. Myers, FL, Kristi (Coley) Gaynor of Indianapolis, IN, his sons, Zac (Kerrie) Engle of Greensboro, NC, and Josh (April) Engle, of Indianapolis, IN. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Megan (Brandon) Sanger, Mitchell (Summer) Hayes, Karsyn, Coley Jr., Kenzi, & Kennedy Gaynor, and one very special great grandchild, Scarlett Hayes. He is predeceased by his brother, Jimmy Engle.
A private family memorial will be held in Ft. Myers, FL with a celebration of life at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – South Florida Chapter and the Gulf Coast Humane Society.
