Paul F. Curcio, 88, of Fort Myers Florida passed away on December 3, 2022 at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida after a lengthy illness. Paul was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he met the love of his life, Barbara, with whom he spent almost 65 years. He spent most of his life in Philadelphia and Bucks County, Pa. before moving to Florida in 1997.
His distinguished career in law enforcement started with a tour in the Army National Guard Military Police, and continued in the Philadelphia Police Department, retiring from the Philadelphia Police K-9 unit before joining the Pennsylvania State Police Liquor Control Board, where he headed up the Eastern PA five-county PLCB until his retirement in 1990.
Before moving to Florida, Paul spent three years working alongside Barbara in the Telephone Pioneers of America where he did volunteer work all over the country and formed many life-long friendships. One of Paul’s passions was cars, owning everything from a Delorean to his current toy, a 1926 Model T Ford. He also enjoyed boating on the Delaware River, the Chesapeake Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico. He loved his travels around the world with Barbara and cruising with Barbara and their friends on ocean liners or river boats. He loved bringing joy to children and volunteered at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers. One of his greatest joys was decorating every floor of the hospital at Christmas time from the year it opened until COVID struck.
Paul is survived by his wife, Barbara, nee Giba, his son, Dennis (Jodee) and grandchildren, Cherilyn (Tyler) Comp, William (Rachael) Curcio, Kathryn (Doncho) Stanchev and Barbara Ann McGary and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Claire Curcio, William (Veronica) Curcio, Patricia Curcio and Barbara Mangigian, and sister-in-law Shirley Curcio, as well as many nieces and nephews and several very special friends. He was predeceased by his father, Francis Curcio, his mother, Theresa (Hallinger) Curcio, his son, Paul F. Curcio, Jr., his grandson, Paul F. Curcio, III, and his brother Robert Curcio, Sr.
