Pamela Ann WORNER, age 77, of Sedan New Mexico, passed away in Fort Myers on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Beloved wife, mother, sister, friend to many, and passionate dog lover, Pamela Ann Worner (nee Twyman) 77, of Sedan, NM passed away on March 9, 2022 at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, FL.
Born in Oxford, England on December 2,1944, Pamela was the daughter of the late Dennis Frederick James Twyman and Lucy Shayler Twyman. On February 26, 1971, at the age of 26, she embarked on a bold journey to the United States to begin a new life with her three young children. As fate would have it, she would meet her future US Customs Security Officer/Sky Marshal husband Matthew Worner onboard her TWA flight from London to NYC that day. He proposed three days after meeting Pam and married 6 weeks later, beginning a new chapter in her life that would endure for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her husband Matthew J Worner, of Sedan, NM, from whom she was sadly separated during her last year for health reasons, but would be reunited during two long visits as Matt made the trek to see her. She will always be lovingly known as his “Lamb”. Also surviving are her five children, Donna Perchatsch (Greg) of Fort Myers, FL, Andrea Evans (Tom) of Chalfont, PA, Darrell Worner of Carlsbad, NM, Robyn Bautz (Tim) of Fort Myers, FL and Bethany Bauer (Norm) of Cape Coral, FL. She was Grandmother to Nick, Ryan, Chris, Mark, Tim, Lauren, Matthew, James, Roseanna, John, and Quin; Great grandmother to Gracie, Shelby, Noelle, Avery, Alaiya, Jamison and Julian. She is also survived by a brother, Peter, in UK.
She and Matt established a new home in Erskine Lakes, NJ and their first daughter was born in 1973. In 1974, Pam moved across the country with Matt and the four kids living in Tuba City, AZ, Pensacola, FL, and Highlands, TX as Matt’s work took them on 3 years of work assignments. Pam and Matt returned to NJ in 1977 and had another daughter in 1979. They stayed in NJ until 2005, when they retired to New Mexico.
Those who knew “Pammie”, laughed at her irreverent wit and humor, often unfiltered. She was never afraid to offer an opinion. She was an avid dog lover and rescuer, finding her passion and talking to anyone who would listen about her “babies”, that she rescued from all over the US and willing to drive for days to get them. Often, her children would call Dad and ask where mom was. His response would often be, “beats the heck out of me; she took off in her car with one of her friends to get another dog.” If you weren’t giving your dog a raw diet, mom would let you know you should. Pam’s wallet was often full of her dog pictures.
Pam was happiest poking around in thrift stores, and there wasn’t a yard sale or curb alert that she could resist. If she didn’t need it, she would surely convince you that you did. She also was happy on the road in one of her many Airstream campers. She and Matt attended many Airstream rallies across the country.
She was a professional hairdresser by trade, having completed her four-year apprenticeship with Beryl Morris in London. She became the neighborhood hairdresser wherever she went. Upon her return to NJ, Pam established a reputable house and commercial cleaning business with her best friend and partner in crime, Berta Toomey. This business and friendship lasted for many years, and provided many a hilarious story of their escapades and bad customer experiences.
She enjoyed binge watching Netflix especially Call the Midwives, Downton Abbey, Chicago Med, Grey’s Anatomy and Nightshift, rewatching over and over, swearing Netflix was messing with the order in which she was resuming shows, as well as the content as she remembered.
Her recent health challenges brought special awareness to the strong, feisty and courageous woman she was. She endured her prolonged lung disease with bravery and acceptance.
Perfectly imperfect, that was Pam; she will be missed. She was loved dearly, now is her time for rest…. Beautiful wife, momma and friend.
A visitation for Pamela will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM, followed by a memorial service from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Hodges Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919 - (239) 481-4341.
