Michael Joseph Callewaert, 73, of Caledonia, WI, passed away February 23, 2018 at his winter residence in Ft Myers, FL. He was born January 31, 1945 to Irene (Boyard) and Gerard Callewaert in Sturtevant, WI. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger. Mike is survived by his long-time friend and partner Ann Byrne Kerscher, by his son Michael (Dana) Callewaert of Alexandria, VA; son Jason (Denise Bagley) Callewaert of Racine, WI; daughter Alyssa Callewaert of Alexandria, VA; and granddaughter Brianna Callewaert of Raleigh, NC. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family: Bill and Kate (Kerscher) Michel and sons Will, Tyler, and Drew; Dan and Carolyn (Kerscher) Brenner, daughters Ivy and Cecilia and son Nolan; and Edward Kerscher. He is also survived by his friend since childhood Peter (Sue) Turner of Racine, WI and many other wonderful relatives and friends.
Michael Callewaert worked for the Village of Mount Pleasant, WI until his retirement. He loved golfing, fishing, deer hunting, watching NASCAR, playing cribbage, blues music, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial get-together is being planned for Mike to be held in Racine, WI in the spring to celebrate Mike’s life.
