Fred Williams, a distinguished Air Force Chief Master Sergeant retiree, esteemed teacher, avid golfer, and ardent advocate for higher learning, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023. His remarkable life was a testament to dedication, passion, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Freddie’s legacy began with his 28 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. As a decorated veteran, he demonstrated impeccable courage and commitment to the defense of his nation. His service was marked by a deep sense of duty, integrity, and a strong camaraderie with his fellow servicemen and women.
After retiring from the Air Force, Freddie embarked on a fulfilling career as an educator. His passion for teaching was contagious. He sought to inspire and empower generations of students with knowledge and intrinsic motivation as lifelong learners. Known for his engaging teaching style and compassionate nature, he made a lasting impact on countless lives, shaping minds and instilling a love for education that transcended the classroom.
Freddie was a long-time supporter of Boys Town, an orphanage for boys. He assisted many clients as a former employee for the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division. As an advocate, he firmly believed in the transformative power of education and dedicated himself to promoting access to quality education for all. Whether through mentoring aspiring students or supporting scholarship programs, his efforts touched the lives of countless individuals and left an indelible mark on the educational community and citizens.
When not in the classroom, he could often be found on the golf course, pursuing his passion for the game. His skill, dedication, and love for golf made him a familiar face among fellow golf enthusiasts. He cherished the camaraderie and friendships formed through this beloved sport, and his infectious enthusiasm brought joy to everyone who played.
Freddie Williams’ legacy is one of service, knowledge, and a love for life. He will be remembered as a dedicated Air Force veteran, an exceptional educator, a skilled golfer, and a relentless advocate for higher learning. His unwavering commitment to excellence and his genuine care for others will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. His presence will be deeply missed by his loving family, friends, former colleagues, and students.
He leaves a legacy in that of his loving and caring wife Grace Williams. Four daughters, Frederica Elaine Hammonds (Markus), Cynthia Williams, Lisa Holman (deceased), and Gisele Williams and two sons, Freddie Williams Jr., and Marc Nicolaas Williams 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A gathering for Freddie will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913, followed by a memorial service with military honors from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
