Winston Samuel Fisher was born at Clonmel, in the Parish of St Mary, Jamaica, to Sir Arthur Fisher and Estena Colespring on October 14th 1922. Winston, (“Dada”, as he was affectionately known to family), attended school there at Clonmel and graduated in 1939.
On leaving school Mr. Fisher worked as a professional bus driver between St. Mary and Kingston.
He soon relocated to Kingston where he met the love of his life and future wife, Violet Bell, whom he married on the 14th of February 1947. Their vows of Holy matrimony were taken on the grounds of Kings House, St Andrew, Jamaica, where Violet worked for the wife of the Governor-in Chief of Jamaica, Sir Hugh Foot. Their union produced 10 children, of which the first was a daughter, Lorene ( AKA Precious), born on May 1st 1947.
In Kingston, Winston worked at the Kingston Water Commission and later at the Bellevue Hospital as a Security Guard. In 1970 he migrated to Boston, Massachusetts, USA, with one daughter, Lorna, where he was reunited with his wife who had previously migrated. He and Violet worked tirelessly to bring their other 8 children to their new home in the USA within a few years.
In 1984 Winston and his wife, after years of hard work in Boston’s cold weather, moved to the warmer climate of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where they established a new family home. There they both became members of the First Baptist Church of Sunrise, Florida.
