He was born December 15th, 1923, in Port Edwards, Wisconsin and was predeceased by his parents Marina and Ervin Hinkley and his younger brother Alvan Hinkley. He attended the local high school and was a graduate of the Business Institute of Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

He was the chairman of the board of Directors of the Florida Grand Opera from 1998 to 2005. During those years, he often sponsored opening night of the Broward County Opera season and many times this was followed by an after-opera dinner celebrating his birthday.
In 1994 and again in 2004, the Opera Society honored him with the prestigious Diva/Impresario Award for his generous support.
Living so close to the ocean fostered a love of cruising. Along with his two best friends, Chuck Fisher and the late Herb Kurtzheim, both formerly of Milwaukee, he traveled on many of the world’s finest cruise lines to exotic ports throughout the continents.
We would like to thank all of his friends and family for the prayers and thoughts.
