Richard Scott Petersen of Fort Lauderdale passed peacefully on October 31st at the age of 64 from complications of stubbornness and life. Scott took flight COR 4170 leaving behind his son, Jeff, brothers, Phil and Chris, and all those who loved him waiting in the terminal all flying standby.
Scott lived……this is certain. His life was full of travel whether by boat or plane.
He had a successful career in aviation beginning in San Diego where he earned his private and commercial pilot licenses prior to moving to San Jose for college and working as a flight instructor. Norm, father, and brothers moved to Milwaukee which conveniently had a growing demand for corporate pilots. Scott and Sandi soon followed where he enrolled in UW-Milwaukee and became founding president of the UW-Milwaukee aviation club. After graduation he became a corporate pilot, designed and built a house, had a son and was hired at American Airlines. Eventually, Scott settled in Fort Lauderdale where he retired and picked up new hobbies; repairing his boat, repairing his house and contemplating his candidacy for mayor of Fort Lauderdale.
His loves were aviation, boating, scuba diving, and snow skiing. Most of all he lived through his contribution to the enjoyment of his loved ones and continues to live through every smile and witty grin we, as loved ones, make.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to his favorite charity.
