Son of the late Raymond & Marion O'Brien. Born in Binghamton, NY on August 15, 1923. Served in the US Navy from 1943-1948 and was Honorably Discharged in 1949 as Motor Machinist Mate Third Class. Lived in Freeport, Bahamas from 1962-1982 where he was self-employed. While in the Bahamas, he volunteered in the Air Sea Rescue Division. He also played a major role in the Mary Star of the Sea "Catholic Church".
Mr. O’Brien returned to the USA in 1980 where he married his wife Ivy M. O'Brien on October 10, 1982. Mr. O’Brien worked many different jobs well into his 80’s. Mr. O'Brien is survived by his wife, Ivy O'Brien of Hollywood, FL; his three grandchildren Melissa (Ricky) Carman of Belfast, NY; Robert (Jennifer) Yaw of Kissimmee, FL; Steven Yaw of Kissimmee, FL; and his great grandchildren Emalee, Samuel, Cooper, Landen, and Mia.
He is also survived by his stepchildren Peter O'Brien and Andrea Owens; his two great step grandchildren Keisha and Tamika; and many loving friends. His brother’s Carl & Earl and his daughter Linda Yaw preceded him in death. Mr. O'Brien departed this life on Sunday February 22, 2015 after a brief illness.
