A Time To Born
On Monday morning, June 7th, 2005, a beautiful brown eye baby girl, who only weighed 4lbs 1oz
was born to the late Ken Lewis and Stacy Stubbs. They named her Madison Kae Stubbs Lewis, affectionally called Maddy by all who loved her. She was her mother’s only child and Stacy loved her unconditionally.
Her Education
Madison got her early education at Totland preschool where she was the prettiest one in the class. After leaving Totland preschool, she went to St. Ann’s Early Care School, Ginoko school and Genesis Academy. Madison also attended the Jubilee School of Dance, which was one of her favorite things to do, when she wasn’t singing she was dancing.
Who Madison Was
From a young tender age, Maddy loved dressing up. She was a girly girl who loved fashion and always look pretty. Madison would spend hours looking at the mirror getting ready to go out. Maddy would put on her makeup and made sure her hair bands always matched her clothing. Even if Maddy stayed home, she had to look good. On occasions, she had more makeup than any one of the women in her life. She would go to the store to see her aunt, Catherine, who would give her little girl manicures and pedicures. Even at the age of one she would never get her nails/toes messed up she would look at her mom and say “mummy see”. Madison and Grammy would always have the talk about her lipsticks because Maddy would always find a use for them.
Madison was a very quiet child, sometimes too quiet. She would be in the car with her mom and if you didn’t look in the back you would have forgotten that she was there. She got the quietness from her mother and serious stare from her father.
Madison made friends with everyone she met. Every year for Madison’s birthday she would have a pool party where all her friends and their parents would attend. She was the life of the party. Madison and her best friend Rickey were like two peas in a pod or joined to the hip. You would of thought that they were twins.
One of the things that she loved to do was to travel, she just loved going to her favorite place, Disney World. She had talented hands. Maddy was an artist, she would draw for hours. She made her own four foot doll house out of card board box. Every time, Maddy was asked what art and craft project she made and she would start putting something together.
Her Sickness
Early December, Madison and her mother were in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida when Madison had a pain in her stomach. She had to be rushed to Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital and then doctors found something was wrong with Maddy. At the time, Maddy's grandmother, Virginia Stubbs, was very ill at home in Nassau. Madison's mother, Stacy went into panic mode and called her big sister who came to be by their side. On December 15th, 2015 at the age of ten, Madison was diagnosed with cancer. Madison and her mom, Stacy, were able to come home to spend Christmas with the family then return to Florida for treatment. Even though Maddy was going through chemo, she would never complained. The doctors said what Maddy went through most adults can’t even do with a positive attitude and smiling.Over the last three years, Madison was a warrior. Madison has been an inspiration to everyone who has met her.
Madison and her mother got haircuts because Stacy didn’t want Maddi to go through loosing her hair by herself, but Maddi embraced the bald look.
The doctor asked Madison if they can use a sample of her cancer to test in order treat other children her age in the future and Maddie she politely said yes.
Madison was in the ICU in Nicklaus Miami Children’s Hospital since July of 2017 and through it all her mother never ever left her side. Stacy turned the hospital into a second home. Stacy never gave up hope that her baby Maddy was going to walk out of the hospital. Madison would call her mom and say, “mummy I love you more than pizza” and Stacy would reply “I love you more than chicken wings.”
Maddi knew every nurse and doctor in that hospital, she made friends with everyone. Maddy was the disc jockey at the hospital to hanging out at the nursing station help them. She left an inedible impact on all the staff of doctors and nurses. Maddi was loved so much.
