Hubert completed his primary and secondary education in Honduras and played soccer with the local team. As a young man he moved to Tegucigalpa to work with the American government in building the Pan American highway. He left Honduras in 1958 to join his siblings in Brooklyn, New York in pursuit of a better career and life opportunities. While in New York he met and married his first wife Helen (deceased) and raised one daughter Connie and one son Hubert Jr. Hubert Sr. remarried to his lovely wife Patricia and spent the rest of his life with her until his passing.
His career was broad and included working in antique restoration which he loved and then enrolled in the Brooklyn Technical Trade School to pursue a career in electrical trade. Hubert Sr. became a professional electrician and secured a lifelong career with the New York City Transit Authority where he served as a road car inspector. He was passionate about his work and was committed to perfection in every job he completed.
Hubert retired at 59 years of age and relocated with his wife Patricia to Florida in pursuit of sunny warm weather, and a more relaxed lifestyle.
Hubert Sr. was passionate about his heritage as a Honduran and was actively involved in organizing activities, dances, picnics and basement parties that brought the Honduran community together. In Florida, he was instrumental in organizing the "Florida Honduran Reunion Committee" and served actively as the Vice President. He loved to dance and also enjoyed traveling with a passion for exploring the world. He was the ultimate entertainer and enjoyed having friends over for great food and drinks. He was also an active member of the church of the Atonement and lifelong member of the Brotherhood of Saint Andrews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Emanuel, and mother Mary, brothers Jorge, Lester, Vernal, Larry and his sister Lidia. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his three children Connie, Hubert Jr. and Denise, his brothers Emanuel, Richard, sisters Nelly and Lucille and grandkids Damion, Tenee, Robert-Justin, Alexander-Max, Brooke and Jace. He also leaves behind great grandkids Logan, Blaine and Phoenix and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Hubert will be dearly missed.
