BUSBY, FRANCES BRADSHER, 87, passed away Friday morning, August 10, 2012, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born October 20, 1924, in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Hattie Marina Newsom and William Durham Bradsher. Mrs. Busby attended Catawba College, graduated from Duke University in 1947, and became a pediatric nurse.
Mrs. Busby grew up in Salisbury, North Carolina, where, at the age of 15, she met Philip Fransioli Busby, and later married him in 1946 upon his return from World War II. They honeymooned in Havana, Cuba. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Busby raised four children in Westfield, New Jersey, while her husband worked as General Manager of SeaLand Service. They moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1978, and were married for 60 years until his death.
Mrs. Busby is survived by her children Philip Jr., Byron, Spencer, and Bonnie; grandchildren Philip, Gemma, Nicole, Leah, Lina, Lissette, Byron, Lara, Avery, and Spencer, and two great grandsons, Christopher Morales and Shaun Novar. She is predeceased by her husband; sister, Nancy Bradsher Hamilton; and grandchild, Lilia Busby.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m.Thursday, August 16 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 333 Tarpon Drive, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
