Patrick was born on March 26, 1983 to Butch Wensley and Julie Smith. Patrick grew up in Fort Frances and graduated from Fort Frances High School. Patrick had a talent for working with his hands and pursued a career in iron and sheet metal work. He was a member of the Alberta Iron Workers Union and the Alberta Sheet Metal Workers Union before returning to the Rainy River District to work at New Gold as a driller.
Patrick was an avid sports fan. He loved the game of hockey and started playing at a young age and went on to play competitive hockey for many years. One of his favorite pastimes was watching his Buffalo Bills and Edmonton Oilers play.
Summers were spent on the lake boating, swimming, fishing and enjoying time with family and friends. We will always remember Patrick for his beautiful smile and genuine laugh. He was engaging, sincere and could brighten up any room he walked into. Patrick adored his cat Willow who will miss his cuddles.
The happiest day of Patrick’s life was when his daughter Bria was born. She was the light of his life and he was the proudest daddy. In addition to his daughter, Patrick will be greatly missed by his partner Samantha Blackburde; stepdaughters Payton and Payge; his mother Julie and husband Sandy Smith; and father Butch Wensley and wife Heather; brother Jeromy Wensley; Step sisters Chooch and Lindsey, grandmother Shirley Nault; grandparents Ron and Polly Wensley and step grandfather Glen Gunderson; nieces and nephews. Patrick leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Patrick was predeceased by his grandfather Dean Colvin, step-grandfather George Nault, step grandparents Alex and Doris Smith, Silvia Gunderson, uncle Dan Colvin and nephew Jordan Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, ON.
