Margaret Bartlett

She was born March 17, 1923 in Fort Frances, Ontario to the late Magnus and Margaret Martinson. Raised in Fort Frances, Margaret met Robert Bragg whom she married on February 6, 1941. During WWII, Robert was stationed overseas where he passed away on May 23, 1944. In 1946, Margaret moved to Toronto where she continued her education and graduated from Toronto Bible College. Following graduation, she returned to Fort Frances, and together with her brothers, Norman and Robert purchased the East End Confectionary in 1953, which she owned and operated until her retirement in 1972. On June 7, 1975 Margaret was united in marriage to George Bartlett and enjoyed many good years together. Margaret loved bowling on the local Ladies League Monday afternoons, and the Golden Agers League Thursday afternoons. She also enjoyed board games, travelling with George, and at home gardening and her flowers. Margaret was a Charter Member of the Bethel Baptist Church having held many offices. She was also known to have an extensive collection of spoons, pins, plates, matchebook covers, dolls and over 600 stuffed toys. Margaret will be missed dearly by her family and many friends she made throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Bragg; second husband, George Bartlett; brothers, Norman, Robert and Joe Martinson.

Margaret is survived by her stepsons, Bill (Victoria) Wishart of Fort Frances, ON., and Randy Bartlett of B.C.; sister, Alice Dowsett of Kitchener, ON., sisters-in-law, Betty Martinson of Winnipeg, MB., Bernice Stapleton of Bensonville, Illinois and Alice Malloy of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law, Norbert Bragg of Devlin, ON; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario with Pastor David Groff officiating. Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ontario.

Family and friends may visit prior to services on Monday afternoon.

Honourary pallbearers will be all of Margaret’s beloved nieces and nephews.
