Karen Denise Angus

Karen was born on July 25, 1964 to Bev and Denis Busch. She was raised in the North End of Fort Frances and took over the Busch family home to make it her own when Bev and Denis moved to Nickel Lake.

After graduating from Fort Frances High School, Karen moved to London Ontario to study Interior Design at Fanshaw College. Karen returned to Fort Frances a couple years later to work at the family business, Busch’s Automotive Machine and Welding.

A few years after returning to Fort Frances, Karen gave birth to her daughter, Amanda. Karen was a great mom and although she only had one, she cared for Amanda’s friends as if they were her own, welcoming them in to her home at any time.

Although Karen didn’t pursue Interior Design as a career, she saved it as a hobby and her home showed. She loved entertaining in it. The house was a cozy place and it didn’t take long for people to feel comfortable.

Karen was fun, loving, easy going, and down to earth. These qualities allowed her to make friends easily. Over the years she made lasting friendships and memories with many people. She cherished each and every friendship she made.

She loved to have fun, and treasured many memories of boating on Rainy Lake, golfing, gatherings at friends' cabins, travelling, curling, girls’ weekends, visiting Amanda in Winnipeg, and shopping trips.

Karen served on a number of boards in the community. Recently, and most dearly to her heart, she became involved with the Fort Frances Lakers Junior A hockey team as a board member and billet. Being a “hockey mom” was a new experience that she never imagined she would do, but she absolutely loved it.

Her new found love for hockey provided a common interest with her son in-law, Dan. She enjoyed sitting down and watching a Jets game with him or making hockey pool picks together.

Karen is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Amanda (Dan); parents, Bev and Denis Busch; brother, Kevin Busch (Melanie); sister, Kristen Busch (Ron); and niece, Mackenzie.

Additionally, she will be remembered by her employees, customers, many friends, the Angus family, “her boys” and the Laker hockey players that she met along the way.

Cremation has taken place.

A casual come and go Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, May 9, from 3-6pm at the Fort Frances Curling Club. Busch’s will be closed on Thursday, May 9, 2019 in honour of Karen.
