It is with profound sorrow that the family of Allison Nicole Smith announces her passing on October 11, 2016 in Couchiching First Nation, Ontario.
Allie was born on December 22, 1995 to Marvin Fering and Shirley Smith in Fort Frances, ON. Allison loved old country music, she enjoyed dancing & singing along to her favorite songs. She danced at many powwows in Canada & the U.S. Allie served as Princess of Northwest Bay First Nation for Jr. & Sr. Princess, as well as Couchiching First Nation’s Sr. Princess. At Powwows she was recognized as the girl in the red dress or “Princess.” She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family members. She was very close with her sister Rebecca, the two used to be inseparable at times. Allie had a unique silliness and loved making those around her comfortable. Isaias, Treyton-Jay and Calise will miss their “auntie cat”
She leaves behind her sister Rebecca Smith (Cote McGinnis); her father Marvin Fering; grandmother Alice Smith; niece Mila McGinnis and nephew Isaias Lockman; stepbrother Abram Fering and stepsister Crystal Ness; aunts and uncles Roger Smith, Donna Smith (Dave Williams), Cindy Lou Medicine, Kevin Smith (Terry), Jason Smith (Katherine), Gerald Smith Jr. And Stewart Smith and numerous cousins.
Allison was predeceased by her grandfather Gerald Smith Sr, great grandparents John & Margaret Smith and Alphonse & Mary Smith.
A visitation was held on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 7 until 9 PM at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario.
A funeral service was held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10 AM at Couchiching First Nation Multi Use Facility with Pastor Sean Ward officiating.
The pallbearers were Pat Morrisseau, Val Perreault, Duane Morrison, Richard Morrison, Dale Morrisseau, Cote McGinnis, Sean Smith, Justin McGinnis, Wes Debungee, Les Martin, Chuck Windigo, Trevor Moyer, Carl Paypom, Al Lockman, Trevor Smith, Kerri Morrisseau and Tim Bruyere.
The honourary pallbearers were Marvin Fering, Gladys McPherson, Louise Morrisseau, Florence Yerxa, Ernestine Councillor, Pam Debungee, Kip Mainville, Alice Smith, and RoseMarie Tuesday.
