For 40 years, he was the beloved husband of wife, Pamela Irene Cihak Maksimovic, who will miss him deeply. Also survived by his sister, Doris Maksimovic, as well as aunts and cousins residing in his German homeland. He will be remembered fondly by friends and family members of his in-laws, Irene and the late Erwin F. Cihak, Sister-in-law, Sandra Irene Cihak Swinger, (Capt. Alan Swinger, U.S.N. retired), Niece Pamela Swinger Knight, (Dave), Nephew, Mark Alan Swinger, (U.S.N. retired +wife, Lara, daughters, Olivia Irene and Madelyn Audrey), Sister-in-law, Bernadette Irene Cihak. Paul also built a strong, amiable relationship with his sincere neighbors in Lemont.
Paul was born November 2, 1944 in Nuremberg, Germany. Son of Wilma, (nee Spiker) Maksimovic and Rodojko Maksimovic, he immigrated to the USA when he was 7 yrs. old. Growing up in the Pilsen neighborhood, he completed his primary and secondary education. After attending boot camp with the Marine Corp., he decided to branch-out, pursuing a career in carpentry. Honing his aptitude quest, Paul completed his apprenticeship under the sponsorship of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters on September 2, 1973.
Once a member of the union, a multitude of job opportunities began, branching from high rise layouts, commercial structures, framing interstate bridges, home remodeling with private garage designs, as well as administrative computer flooring.
Paul will be remembered as an accomplished carpenter with exemplary skills; nothing he couldn't solve if wood were involved. What a man! Living on 9 acres in Lemont, he completely gutted their old home into a new one, with a new front entrance, new sunroom addition, with a wrap around deck... even built a new 2nd garage just for their cars.
Paul's competitive spirit complimented his athletic passion for tennis, golf and skiing, (where he met his wife, Pam) 3 days a week, at the gym, were always a must. With lust for the outdoors, he always found time to join his wife, maintaining their grounds, their own putting green, perennial beds and annual vegetable garden. Pets were always included, with a German Shepherd and 5 cats.
During their 40 yrs of marriage, Paul and Pam traveled the world with lengthy excursions throughout Europe, South America, Asia, the Mediterranean, India, Australia/New Zealand, as well as numerous islands and the Antarctica too! They cherished exploring new territories and sampling traditional cuisines. Everyone should see the world; it's educational and makes one truly appreciate what we have in the USA.
Paul's sincere demeanor and compassionate nature will always live on with deep friendships, holding fond memories; something no one can ever take away. Simply priceless.
