Onyeka was born in Chicago and attended Oak Park and River Forest High School. She volunteered at the West Side Veterans Administration Medical Center for over 25 years under the warm guidance of McChrystal. She was a lover of an eclectic array of music but had a special love for Opera.
Onyeka loved and was beloved by her family and leaves behind: her parents Myrtle and R. George and Mason of Oak Park, Illinois, sister Hyacinth, her brother Amadeus; sister-in-law Racquel; brother-in-law Steven; nieces Pascale, Sabine, Hailey and Chelsea; nephews Jaedon and George; Aunts Dorleen, Beryl, Pauline, Dawn, Blondie, Junie and Homer; Uncles Danny, Horace and Karl; cousins Elisabeth, Jonathan, Colleen, Heather, Patrice (Penny), Anthony, Karline, Donald, Boris, Miriam, Marva, Valda and Richard; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving Grandparents, Uncle and cousin.
Her funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Parish on 60 Akenside Road in Riverside, Illinois at 2pm on Saturday, September 8, 2018.
