Ruth Heyman

Ruth Heyman, Age 97, passed away on December 19, 2023. She was the wife of the late Milton Heyman to whom she was married for 59 years. She was born on March 4, 1926 in Middle Village, Queens to Sylvia and Harry Dorn.

Ruth married Milton in 1946 and raised their family in Douglaston, NY. She attended Queens College as a young mother, graduated and then earned two Masters degrees. After several part time teaching positions, she became a proud New York City Public School teacher before retiring in 1995. Ruth enjoyed her final four years living a very active life at Orchard Estate of Woodbury.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, reading, movies, traveling, Broadway shows, eating out, and most of all being with her ever-growing family.

Ruth wore three very proud hats: Mom to Neil Heyman (Janna), Sharon Heyman (Barry Zitser), and Nancy Wohl (Russell); Nana to David Dagrosa (Lindsay Berman), Lawrence Dagrosa (Alicia), Jamie Lund (Michael), Brad Heyman (Amy), Rochelle Greenberg (Brian), Taryn Heyman, Samantha Behar (Doug); Gigi to Madison Lund, Benjamin Lund, Claire Heyman, Leora Dagrosa, Rowan Dagrosa, Darren Heyman, Lincoln Dagrosa, Paige Heyman, Jack Behar, James Behar, and Samara Greenberg.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sinai Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills NY, 11375. The burial will follow the service at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Shiva will follow the burial at the home of Jamie and Michael Lund, 6 Ballsten Drive, Woodbury, NY, 11797. Additional Shiva will be on Friday from 1:00 – 4:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 – 3:00 PM.

Donations can be made in Ruth’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or another charity of your choice.
