CURTIS-Neil, 68, of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 8. Courageously battling illness for nearly three years, Neil maintained an indomitable spirit. Originally from Jamaica, Queens, Neil remained in the New York area until moving to Florida last year. A highly-respected educator, Neil held a Master's Degree in Education Administration, and as a special education teacher, enlightened and improved the lives of hundreds of school children for nearly 40 years. Neil's love of family and friends was paramount. Blessed with an outgoing and warm personality, he embraced life with humor & compassion, befriending people everywhere. A life-long learner, Neil taught himself to play guitar, piano and harmonica, and enjoyed composing songs. Neil is survived by his devoted wife Amy, his cherished children Jenna (Alastair) and Michael, by his dedicated siblings Richard and Diane (Mark), and by countless loving friends & relatives. Funeral services will be held 11:30am Thursday, April 12 at Schwartz Brothers Memorial Chapel, 114-03 Queens Blvd., Forest Hills, NY. Following services, the family will sit Shiva Friday 10-2, Saturday 6-9, and Sunday 10-4 and 6-9 at The Inn at Great Neck, 30 Cutter Mill Road, Great Neck, NY.
