Eli Turner, 53, passed away on September 22, 2024. Eli was a deeply devoted father, cherished son, caring brother, loving uncle, adored nephew, cousin, and wonderful friend. He was a beautiful soul who made the world a better place.
Born on July 20, 1971, Eli grew up in Flushing, New York, to Haya and Eihud Turner. He was the younger brother to sisters Judi and Alice. He loved sports of all kinds and played countless hours of basketball in the neighborhood parks. Life in his tight knit family revolved around large holiday gatherings, boisterous barbecues, and Knicks games where lucky groups of friends and family would enjoy his mother’s delicious cooking and his father’s generous hospitality. He grew up surrounded by love.
Eli attended Queens College where he was the President of Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) - the world’s largest Jewish college fraternity. He was beloved by the fraternity’s brothers for his positive leadership of the Chapter and his commitment to ensuring the group’s culture of fun and achievement.
After leaving college, Eli began a lifetime career in property management. In his various jobs, he touched the lives of so many people. His days were spent resolving tenants’ problems, ensuring the quality of their living conditions, and being someone who could be relied upon to make things better. In his day-to-day work, he took care of countless peoples’ lives, many of whom have expressed their heartfelt gratitude for his work.
His three children - Josh, Abby, and Lucas - were the focal point of his life. Eli channeled all of his energy and attention into being their father. Being their Dad was his greatest joy and reason for being. His belief in his children was unwavering and his love and care was inexhaustible. He did all that he could to show them the depth of his love and devotion. He was at his happiest when they were all together. Josh, Abby, and Lucas were his everything and he will always be with them.
Eli loved his parents deeply. He inherited his father’s vitality, sense of humor, and family focus. His relationship with his mother was the foundation of his life. Eli and Haya took care of each other in so many ways and they delighted in each other’s company. Their love was singular and their bond was and will remain eternal. He was a fun-loving brother who adored his sisters, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
All who knew him will remember Eli for his love of sports and his devotion to the Jets, Knicks, Rangers, and Yankees. He was a true fan whether his teams were winning or losing.
Genuine, loyal, authentic, trustworthy, and sincere - Eli was a man who could be relied upon regardless of the situation. His life was a blessing to all who knew him and he will be deeply missed.
A funeral service for Eli will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM at Parkside Memorial Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM at Wellwood Cemetery, 1400 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704.
