

Born on July 1, 1929, in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of Abraham and Mae Marcus. Earning a master’s degree in education from Hunter College, she had a long, successful teaching career. She first began as a fourth-grade teacher for the New York City Board of Education. Later, she earned an additional credential and became one of the first teachers in the New York City school system to achieve the certification of Teacher of English as a Second Language.
After retiring from the New York City Board of Education, she continued her career at Queensborough Community College as an adjunct professor of English as a Second Language. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Scrabble, shopping on Amazon and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Katz and husband Barry Katz, daughter Elaine Ziff Leibman (of blessed memory) and husband Ronald Leibman, grandchildren Lisa, Amy, Sam, Mallory and Janice, and great-grandson Benjamin. She was considered by all who knew her as a role model, mentor, confidante, and loving friend, and will be deeply missed.
A funeral service for Beulah will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sinai Chapels, 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Following the funeral service will be a burial service from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Rd, Elmont, NY 11003.
