I just found out that Bob is gone.  We worked together at Julius Baer and were subsequently hedge fund colleagues.  He was a lovely and good man.  My sincere condolences to his family.

Sending condolences to Bob’s family. I had many enjoyable moments with Bob where he taught me a lot about what to say, and most importantly what not to say or when to say nothing. He was a wise colleague who I truly enjoyed working with. He epitomised New York and I knew he would brighten any trip there or when he came to London. We travelled throughout Europe together and to Bermuda.

Bob and I met when he was at AIG Investments and I was an AIG in-house attorney. I moved into the business unit and we worked together for many years and he was smart, funny, cared for his colleagues (and family) and all around good guy. Especially remember Bob as Santa Claus at firm christmas parties.  He will be missed!

Bob was one of my dearest friends who I loved with my entire heart. Owing to our shared working-class, Italian-American outer borough NYC roots, Bob and I became close friends very quickly over a decade ago. Despite growing up in public housing and going on to achieve outstanding career success as a prolific asset allocator, Bob never forgot where he came from. Bob always lifted others while he climbed and regularly found the time to mentor the next generation of "outer borough strivers", despite his very busy schedule.

As someone who has personally mentored hundreds of City University of New York (one of the most diverse university systems globally) first generation college students from working class families studying finance / accounting / economics (who in most cases received Pell Grants) over the past decade, I believe that each and every person deserves a chance. In addition to believing it, I have invested thousands of hours of my free time into this effort to help students from underserved constituencies. Bob's example was key to shaping how passionate I am about helping those from underserved constituencies. Bob, you will be sorely missed for all the days of my life, and I love you my brother.

I want to offer my condolences to the Discolo family.  I worked with Bob for many years at AIG and we traveled frequently to Japan.

Bob was a magnificent human being and a very talented investment professional.

I had the pleasure of working with Bob for over a decade at AIG. Bob was a fantastic colleague, friend, and mentor. He always prioritized his family and friends above everything else. To Alex, Michael, and Carly, know he spoke of you with immense pride. The last time we met, he was beaming while updating me on your lives. One of my favorite memories is when your dad dressed up as Santa Claus at the AIG holiday party. In typical Bob fashion, he organized a festive day for all of us to enjoy with our families. Bob truly embodied the spirit of Santa Claus, and his memory will continue to inspire us all. My heartfelt condolences to the Discolo family and Bob’s many friends.

My sincere condolences to the family of Bob Discolo.  I first met Bob at AIG over 20yrs ago.  During our time together at AIG and PineBridge Investments we worked  together and traveled often on business trips.  When possible we would squeeze in a baseball game.  After PineBridge, we continued to stay close as friends.   As two guys from Queens,  I appreciated his knowledge of investments, sense of humor, and candidness.  He will be missed but not forgotten.

Dear Alex, Carly and Michael ,
It was a gift for us to have shared so many wonderful memories raising our kids together with your mom and dad. Dad was a giant in business, as we knew some he worked with and he was a giant loving dad at home. I remember him in your backyard playing on the sport court, cheering you all in soccer. 
He was always 1st to  donate to my cancer walk, & asked  how we were. One day leaving your house in RB, he said to Jon and I, “hey, you like birds?” ( he’d been a bird watcher).
Melina  said yes, he quickly brought out a new birdfeeder and said “ enjoy it!”.
Bob, it  has brought us a lot of joy. Thank you🙏your memory will be eternal. We will miss you.

Bob brought an immense amount of joy, passion, and love into my world. His kindness, generosity, and compassion were infinite, and our loving connection was deep. Goodbye my love, our time together was cut so short, and my heart is deeply broken. We had so many plans and dreams that we can no longer do, but the significant impact you had on me in the time we were together was profound, and I will remember our love and laughter forever and always. Miss you Bobby!

My heart goes out the Discolo family -- may his memories bring you peace and comfort in the days and years ahead.  I have known Bob for over 25 years as we both started our careers at AIG around the same time.  He was a lot of things to a lot of people there. To me he was part time mentor, part time peer and part time shrink!  He was always a friend and would extend a hand whether you were at the top of your game or at the bottom.  We kept in touch over the years after AIG at various CFA events, over meals and drinks  and in Brooklyn with his real estate investments.  He was truly one of a kind and he will be sorely missed.

I am very saddened by this. I had the pleasure of working with Bob for a number of years at AIG Investments. He was such a great guy, one of our best managers who took pleasure in mentoring junior staff. He was loved and respected. Deepest condolences to the Discolo family.

Bob was a dear friend. We met when interviewed me for a job in 1997- the interview lasted three hours - we did get to work together afterwards at AIG, and  stayed in touch ever since- despite the distance. 

He was a sweet and caring person, and this is a great shock. My heart goes out to Alex, Carly, Michael and family.

I was a friend of Bob's and he introduced me to so many others. It is through those mutual friends and his exceptional advice that Bob will continue to live in my eyes and be part of my life.

Although it was some time ago, working with Bob for many years at AIG was filled with incredible memories, laughs, and learning moments. Bob was a great leader to his team and always looking out to help others as well. I will remember his laugh and that great smile, his love for baseball for sure, and his love for his family and all of the advice he gave to me for my own family. My heart is with them during this difficult time. Bob had such a positive impact on so many, he will be missed and his memories cherished.

Very saddening to hear this news. I had the pleasure of working with him at AIG for many years and we built a team and a solid business together. Bob was extremely loyal and competent professional and a dedicated father. He leaves us with a wonderful example of what to be as a man father and professional colleague.
