On a full moon night on a hot night reminicent of many summmers gone by i sit and remember those pricess nights. Too hot and early to go home ;
The passing of the great Brooks Robinson who single-handedly with his glove reminded all that defense is as important as offense and character is more important than chatter;
When we did go home ; mesmerized by the man from UNCLE as they single-handedly save the world from the evils that lurked there; little did we know he would be ridding evil by forensics as we stumbled into adulthood; so long Illiya Kuryakin ; Ducky to have known you.
They bring me back to a time where we all associated in time and place ; The late 60s the place PS200 ;
We had our own heroes ; characters that are etched in our mind that will be foreever part of the lore of those days ;
They say things happen in threes ; and maybe they are right; today we lost Lee LeGoff a character that was  a creation of that special time;
Whos passion for sports in the playground was unsurpassed ;softball, stickball, bball or football he was out there first one in last one out;
All who played a softball game will never  forget Lee stretching a single into a triple sliding head first  to beat the throw ; every game was the WS;
As sports turned to music; Lee was there at Dickens, My Fathers Place ,OLunneys and the Eagle Tavern; and Long after the crow moved on Lee would tell stories of this musician or those dancers still in play;
His versatility in music was vast ; and the characters he would acquaint from the Fiddler Convention to being a regular at some of the best Venues for Music in the city is enormous; His collection of music eclectic.
His laughter was contagious and im sure he checking the musical lineup of the angels; hes teams will be Blue as  they will be a large void in the fan base and they will need to draft a fanatic fanatic to replace Lee;

Lee was a truthful breath of air to me there..and funny..I felt like he was a brother to me in a way...no falseness about him..I loved talking to him about the great musical performers from our time..and he knew the history..a sweetheart that would never hurt anyone. I feel so guilty that I did not attend especially since we both said we'd have very few ppl at our demise. I promised him I'd go and he did too..I couldn't bc I had to help my mother so I know you're cool..Will miss you tremendously..Pam K.

Lee,

I never knew where I was going to bump into you on a city bus. I could  be going home to Queens or be on the Westside of Manhattan or even down on the Eastside. You had friends all over Queens and Manhattan. When other people might have whined about traveling to go to meet  up and be there for others, you didn't. When ever I paid my bus fare and looked up and saw a Jets jersey and your smile I knew I was going to hear the latest goings on. Usually it would start with :"Your Mom and my Mother did this......." You always kept me in the loop and my Mother would wonder how I knew what they were up to! You will be missed, but they must be so happy to see you up Heaven. That must be some great family party going on up there. Thank you Lee.

My overriding memory is one of a great guy with a huge heart who would do anything for you. I have such a smile on my face thinking about the things we did, bluegrass concerts, Jet games, Irish concerts and then there were the shows at the Mudd Club many many moons ago. Unfortunately, he was greatly slowed down these later years by his oft operated on knee. But Lee stayed Lee and continued to live life on his terms. Godspeed my good friend I’m going to miss you.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story of his life, he undoubtedly left many with great memories to cherish.

I have so many fond memories of my dear cousin Lee as we both  grew up in Hell's Kitchen.  Following my move to Montana after my Dad's passing, our subsequent trips to New York always included visiting relatives in Flushing where we made a point to see Lee and also trips to Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan.  I felt Lee and I had a special 
connection due to our shared definite affinity for our birthplace.
He was just a special person that will be greatly missed.

My 2nd attempt to write this so please excuse me if this repeated!   I met Lee in 1985 and his family on my 1st trip to NYC with my new boyfriend, Jim Holt.  Lee  was a big guy with a big heart and kinda quite around others he didn’t know, but he had a great BIG smile and a HUGE laugh around his friends and family!   He was like a big teddy bear, really.   1987 Lee was my husband’s Jim’s best man (and his cousin).  Jim was an only child but Nora, Lee, Edward and Charles were like his brothers and sister.    When we were much younger Lee would take us out to see the city. Once he ordered pitchers of kamikazes and treat us to one of his favorite foods, the White Castle with 20 cheeseburgers and Fries!!  He surprised this southern girl- lol.  He was funny and fun to be around.  God bless his brothers, sister, other family members and good friends who will miss him so much.   I am thankful to have known him and share great memories.  Jim now has his cousin, Lee and his Aunt Catherine with him in heaven and are in peace.  With love, Faye Holt

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved brother, Louis Paul LeGoff. He passed on September 28th, 2023 in Flushing, NY at the age of 71. Lee, as he was called, was a loving son, brother, uncle and grand uncle who lived a joyous and free- spirited life. Even through some very tough times, his boisterous laughter could liven up any room.

Lee was born in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen and was always proud of his Irish heritage and continued to visit his “Old Neighborhood” years after he moved to Queens. He literally wore his emotions for his roots on his sleeve as the photo depicts. He moved to Electchester in Flushing, Queens with his family when he was seven and enjoyed a wonderful childhood in P.S. 200 playground. Everyone in the neighborhood will always remember his famous slides into second base.

After graduating Jamaica High School, Lee backpacked solo through Europe exhibiting his adventurous nature. He attended many yearly Blue Grass festivals in Virginia. His welcoming persona and true honesty always won him numerous friends. As a season ticket holder for the NY Jets, many a Sunday were spent at Shea Stadium rooting for his favorite team. The tailgating was wonderful (enough said). 

Lee worked for Con Edison and then became a member of Local Union #3 Maintenance Division working at the Joint Industry of the Electrical Industry. Unfortunately, Lee was forced to retire due to multiple knee surgeries and spent the rest of his life in terrible pain. This did not stop him with his walker from spreading joy at the neighborhood shopping center where he achieved the nickname of “The Mayor”.   

Lee was predeceased by his loving parents, Catherine & Louis LeGoff and will be terribly missed by his siblings Nora (James), Edward (Anna), Charles /nephews Christian, Paul (Alicia) and grandnieces, Madison, Mackenzie and grandnephew, Liam.
Also, he will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
