She was born on October 16, 1945 in Canton, China. Being so loving and devoted to family, Lai gave up everything and sacrificed her lifestyle in her homeland, Hong Kong to come to New York to open more opportunities for her daughters. Despite widowed at a young age of 44, she was still able to be the pillar of the family. She raised three amazing women and put them through college, later becoming a loving grandmother of four grandchildren. With her wit and skills, she excelled in anything she put her mind to. Lai only invested her time into challenges and passions, one of which being the Chinese strategy game of Mah Jong. Lai was loved by her family and was admired by others for her strength and generosity. Lai is survived by her three daughters, Stella (Winston), Asther (Joe) and Vera (Kevin), and her grandchildren, Darren, Allison, Madison and Miles. Lai is also survived by her sister Cynthia.
