Fortunata Srecka Grando

Fortunata Skreka Grando, lovingly known as "Lucky," passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of the late Ante, a devoted mother to Diane (Thomas) McCarthy and Frank Grando, and a cherished Baba to Thomas (Daniela), Elizabeth, and Matthew (Lindsey). Her legacy lives on through her great-grandson, Asher, who brought her immense joy in her later years.

Fortunata was the heart of her family, always a guiding presence, and a true guardian of her loved ones. She kept close ties with family and friends, always reaching out with love, encouragement, and prayers for their well-being. Known for her warm hospitality and incredible cooking, she had a special place in her heart for baking, especially her famous apple cake, which became a family favorite.

A devout member of St. Mel’s Roman Catholic Church, Fortunata lived a life steeped in faith and devotion. Her spiritual strength and commitment were felt by all who knew her. She prayed fervently for those she loved and demonstrated daily the values of kindness, patience, and grace.

Fortunata’s love for family, her sense of humor, and her deeply caring nature will be remembered and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the stories shared around family tables, in the prayers said in her name, and in the enduring impact she had on the lives of those she touched.

The family of Fortunata Srecka Grando will be receiving visitors on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 10:45 AM at St. Mel's RC Church, 26-15 154th Street, Flushing, New York 11354. Interment to follow at Mt. St, Mary's Cemetery, 172-00 Booth Memorial Avenue, Flushing, New York 11365.
