Donna Craig, 51, of Bayside, NY passed away unexpectedly at home on October 12, 2020, nearly six months since her beloved spouse of 30 years left this earth. Her body, mind, and soul are finally at peace in God’s presence.
“A strong woman is one who feels deeply and loves fiercely. Her tears flow as abundantly as her laughter. A strong woman is both soft and powerful, she is both practical and spiritual. A strong woman in her essence is a gift to the world.”
Donna, a native Texan, embodied strength with a bold Southern personality, fostered by life trials and humility. Her passions included cooking, NY Yankee baseball, Dallas Cowboy football, her two adopted cats, and time with family and friends. A faithful woman to God, she believed he was her savior.
Within the first minutes of meeting Donna, one could tell she had a kind soul and loved those near her dearly. She’d call her nieces and close friends “darlin” with an adopted New York accent that she developed in her many years as a Queens resident. She was laid-back and never took herself or anyone too seriously. Those who knew her best will remember the words of her life motto: “It is, what it is.”
Donna had a smile you’d never forget. She was not perfect, with a tight tongue, but always had a forgiving attitude. In her late thirties and forties, she bravely continued her education, seeking to be a veterinarian technician. During those years, she worked tirelessly in her studies, supported by her spouse and loved ones.
In early April of this year, her spouse, Joseph DiNapoli, died suddenly and unexpectedly of Covid-19. She missed him day-and-night in solitude, while the impact of the pandemic has carried through. Sadly, Donna was overcome by the weight of grief and a history of chronic health conditions. While she is free of those earthly burdens, her family wants her legacy of strength and spunk to live forever.
Donna is survived by nieces, Anne DiNapoli Block and Regina LeValley. Their mother, Laura DiNapoli was also a dear friend, especially the past six months. While predeceased by Joe, the family is at peace knowing Donna’s strength and love story will continue in heaven.
