Daniel Joseph Creegan, born January 2, 1934, in Jamaica, NY died peacefully on August 2, 2014. A long –time resident of Bayside Hills, New York, Dan became a snow-bird in 2001 and spent half of the year in Gulfport, Florida.
Dan served as a medic in the US Army during the Korean War. After returning from the war, he attended New York University on the GI Bill. Upon graduation, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service and retired in 1991 as an IRS Group Manager. Dan was very active in Boy Scout Troop 142 while his son was a scout.
Dan was predeceased by his wife Mary Bauer Creegan and is survived by his wife Anna Mercaldo Creegan. He is also survived by his son Patrick Creegan and Patrick’s wife Patreece Williams Creegan, and his daughter Suzanne Psichopaidas and her husband Nick, as well as four grandchildren: John, Nicholas, Paul and Paige. Dan also is survived by his sisters Mary Rose Creegan and Peggy Sullivan and his brother James Creegan.
Viewing is at Frederick Funeral Home on Tuesday August 5th 7-9 pm and Wednesday August 6th 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday August 7th at 10:45am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church (56-15 213th Street, Bayside, NY 11364) with interment at Long Island National Cemetery (2040 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735).
