Carolyn Casey passed away on December 14, 2024 in Daytona Beach, Florida. A cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and loyal friend, Carol was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Tom, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage from 1955 until his passing in 2011. Carol, age 90, is survived by her three children (and their respective spouses): Rita Ann Startup (Tom) of Westport, CT, Thomas Gerard Casey (Kathy) of Princeton Junction, NJ, and Mark Christopher Casey (Kelly) of Daytona Beach, Florida. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Deirdre Nora Casey and Michael Joseph Casey of Princeton Jct. NJ, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret (Dwyer) and John Foley and her brother, Jack Foley, of Northvale, New Jersey.
Born in 1934, Carol was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City. She worked for the New York Telephone Company in the early 1950s before meeting her future husband, Thomas Casey. They later moved to Electchester, a housing complex established for electrical workers, located in Fresh Meadows, New York . In the following years, Carol worked as an administrator for the Local # 3 Electricians Union in a career that spanned nearly 25 years. Carol was also active in charity work; working for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and a Roman Catholic Eucharistic Healing Ministry throughout the tri-state area, helping the sick and handicapped .
Carol’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, closely followed by her trips to the casino, where she proudly earned the title of “Slot Pro.” While she may not have won often, those who knew and loved her were the true winners, blessed to have the warm and ever-smiling Carol Casey in their lives. She will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends on Friday December 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home 192-15 Northern Blvd. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday December 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM from Holy Family RC Church 175-20 74th Avenue, Flushing, NY. Burial will be private.
